[Lloyd has draped himself lengthwise over a chair -- his knees hooked over one arm and his back braced against the other. He seems to be designing something-or-other. Or, like, twenty something-or-others, going by the sheer volume of things scattered across this particular page of his sketchbook.

He must be stuck, though, because he doesn't really seem happy with any of them. He frowns at the page for a long time... and then drops his head against the arm of the chair.]

Hey, can I ask you something real quick?

...How long do I have to wait?

[NOW HE WANTS TO KNOW REALLY, REALLY BAD. But he'll obediently slide off the arm of the chair, and round it to sit in front of the chair, and use it as a convenient back rest. And accept not being able to turn around and see the sketch pad :[]

Not long! Promise. Just... pretend like I never said anything in the first place.

[Within a few seconds, the eager scratch of pencil on paper starts up again. SO EXCITE.]

I can't do that! Now I know that it's there, and swirly!

[OH MY GOD HE MIGHT DIE FROM SUSPENSE]

Oh, uh, hmmm.... Well, what if we talked about something else? Would that help?

Sure, I guess. What do you want to talk about?

I dunno, anything! [hmmm!] What were you reading about?

Baseball! It's all the players statistics, over the history of the game!

Oh, yeah! Is that game fun? I've never played.

Are you kidding?! It's only the best sports game! I used to play it all the time, why didn't you ever come with me?

I don't know! I mean, I don't even really know how to play, so....

Mm! You have a really good arm too, it's like swinging a sword, so you know how to stand and everything.

Yeah! I was always really good at horseshoes back home.

[Okay that...Just makes him confused again, wtf dude]

Eh? What does horseshoes have to do with baseball?

Well, you throw baseballs, right? And you throw horseshoes! So it's kind of the same thing.

[He's just...Patting you lightly on the cheek, as that is the highest he can reach right now. Yeah, that's mildly patronizing on purpose. There, there bb, there, there]

No, Lloyd. They're nothing alike. They don't even use the same muscles!

Yes, they do! You use your arms for both of them.

[DUH.]

Yeah, but you throw one over your head, and the other, like...From below the knee. Your arm is turned different, so it uses different muscles!

Okay, yeah, I guess. But the basic stuff is the same! I was always good at horseshoes because I used my arms more than anyone else. It can't be that different.

I guess we'll find out! You can tell me if it was, after we try it.

[Peering dubiously at this potential project though] Are you going to even have time to, though?

Huh? [He looks down, like he legitimately forgot about it. He probably did.] Oh, yeah, of course! I mean, probably.
